I'd just like to add to my post on Seoul about Namdaemun. Thats a link to it on Wikepedia.
I'm not sure if anyone has heard, but early Monday morning it was burned to the ground. Its a historic site in Korea, known as the Sothern gates. It was built in 1398. It is near Seoul station and I actually drove past it in the taxi on my way to and from the casino...just days before it burned down.
I had no idea what it was at the time, I only knew that I drove past it when I wikedpedia'd pictures of it. Pretty nuts. I would not have seen it had I come a week later...or not fully standing anyways.
